Little Caliphs SRZ Ternak Trip 2024: Exploring Science and Connecting with Nature

Little Caliphs Kubang Kerian 2 and Tunjong 2 recently organized a School Trip to SRZ Ternak, a Dairy Farm in Jeram Mengaji as part of their curriculum to instill a curiosity about nature in these young minds. This educational trip was a fun way for the children to learn about and appreciate nature by immersing themselves in farm life for a day.

Appreciating Nature:

Surrounded by luscious hills and vibrant green grass fields, the children were ecstatic to explore the farm and meet the animals. There was so much ground to cover and they simultaneously got their exercises in as they walked around in line, breathing in fresh air under an overcast sky. Furthermore, the children were also given the chance to pet some farm animals, encouraging their sensory development. 

Learning about Animals:

As the children and teachers follow the tour guides, they are taught the names of the animals in Malay and English: cow, horse, ostrich , deer, goose and more. It was easier for the children to memorize their names and characteristics by interacting with these animals in real life. Combined with the excitement of going on a trip, this would surely be a treasured memory for them. 

Leading by Example:

The teachers at Little Caliphs lead by example; they must showcase their willingness to try new things and encourage the children to follow in their footsteps. A clear example of this was when the farmers taught them how to safely and humanely hand-milk cows. For most of them, this was a novel experience. Therefore, the teachers doing it first must have given the children the nudge to try it for themselves.

Collaboration with Local Farmers:

Little Caliphs collaborated with local farmers at SRZ Ternak to provide an immersive experience for the children. The farmers/tour guides accompanied the children and their teachers as they explained about their facilities and the animals that they keep here. Their warm welcome and enthusiastic explanation helped the children connect with them better to make the most out of this School Trip.

The School Trip organized by Little Caliphs succeeded in creating an environment where children were able to explore nature and learn about other creations of Allah in an educational setting.
