Maulidur Rasul Celebration 2024: Learning to Love the Beloved

Maulidur Rasul is an important celebration for Muslims to remember the story of our beloved Prophet Muhammad’s birth and life. At Little Caliphs Kalam Khalifah, this is a crucial annual celebration to strengthen the students’ love for Prophet Muhammad. But as one of the most famous Malay proverbs goes, “tak kenal, maka tak cinta.” To love Allah’s beloved Prophet deeply, we must first get to know him.

Prophet Muhammad’s Birth

After parading around the kindergarten while reciting salawat upon Prophet Muhammad, the students sat down and learned about the history of the Year of the Elephant when the prophet was born. The students were engaged in listening to the story of how Abrahah’s army was defeated by birds as per Allah’s will. After that, the students learned about his closest family members and family tree. It was an eye-opening moment for them to learn that his father, Abdullah bin Abdul Muttalib had already passed before he was even born.

Prophet Muhammad’s Life

A strong emphasis is given on the story of Prophet Muhammad’s life. His upbringing was filled with difficulties as his beloved family members passed away. But our beloved Prophet Muhammad grew up into the noble man Allah destined him to be. The teachers also taught them of his marriage to Khadijah RA and most importantly, his prophethood and how he spread the message of Islam until his death. These stories are to inspire the students to become as devoted and resilient as Prophet Muhammad.

Class Projects to Celebrate Him

For the second half of the day, the students returned to their class and worked together on their class projects. The projects were designed to make them recall what they had learned earlier about Prophet Muhammad SAW about his family tree and sirah. In addition to that, some classes made potpourri (‘bunga rampai’) with pandan leaves as the prophet loved fragrant things.

Through these activities and salawat parade, we hope that the students grow up to practice the prophetic way of life and make him their ultimate role model. InshaaAllah.
