Taekwondo Tournament 2024: Skills and Discipline as Pillars of Strength

Our taekwondo classes take place every week with certified, experienced coaches from Great Taekwondo Academy and Taekwondo Millenium Club. To truly test the students, we organized the Taekwondo Tournament for them to compete. In preparation for the tournament, the coaches have doubled their effort to ensure our Little Warriors are ready for the tournament.

A Successful Collaboration

In total, we selected 51 students to compete in the Taekwondo Tournament at the rooftop of KPTM Kota Bharu. This is in conjunction with the recent collaboration between Kalam Khalifah and KPTM. Furthermore, this tournament could not have happened without the commitment from the members of Taekwondo Millenium Club. They acted as judges, referee and support staff. For all your cooperation, we extend our utmost gratitude.

Students’ Performance during Taekwondo Tournament

There were 8 categories for the tournament; 3 categories for girls and 5 categories for boys based on their weight class. Throughout the event, the audience witnessed the different reactions of students in what could be considered a high-stress situation. Some of the Little Warriors were holding back their punches and kicks, most likely because it was their first taekwondo tournament. However, the others certainly did not. Even between young children, the competition was intense at certain moments while the referee made sure nobody got hurt. Another safety measure that we took was to equip the contestants with safety gears.

All in all, the students showed great sportsmanship. They paused when their opponent needed to take a breather and shook hands after the fight. They also accepted the judges’ decision with an open heart. This proved that the Little Warriors succeeded in embodying what taekwondo is really about; skills and discipline.

The Spirit of Taekwondo

As with many traditional martial arts, taekwondo is not about brute strength alone. Instead, it is also about the mental capability to understand all the intricate techniques and the emotional maturity to accept that failure is part of the process. We hope that the Little Warriors who participated in the tournament will carry these lessons into their future.

Hence, that is a reason why taekwondo is part of our After School Programs. Little Caliphs Kalam Khalifah cares about your children’s physical, mental, and emotional growth. To know more about our taekwondo classes, click here.
